AVATAR IS OUT OF THIS WORLD

I went and saw Avatar last night at the midnight premier and it was out of this world!  I saw the trailer a couple of months ago amidst the confusion with cartoon Avatar movie that was coming out and right away I was thrilled by it's visuals.  This movie was supposedly shot in some new-fangled 3-D imagery and I've got to say, it made for a spectacular viewing.  At times I actually felt like I was on another world.  The amount of detail was astounding and at times I found myself batting away at floating pollen that wasn't there.  The story was a well written yet easy enough to follow and the feel was sort of an Aliens meets Disney vibe.  Even a day later I feel sort of cheery about the ending.

The whole movie borrowed heavily on contemporary issues (or are they timeless) such as environmentalism and multiculturalism and seemed to be theologically inspired with its heavy emphasis on spirituality and interconnectedness with nature.

As far as the visuals go and the 3-D effect?  It was awesome!  I felt like I was on another planet.  I even wanted to kiss the alien girl at the end of the movie.  There's been a lot of complaints about 3-D movies whenever they come out and there a variety of reasonings for them butt, the movie industry hasn't given up on them.  They've always tried to do it again and better every few years and yes, it does get a little better and better ever time they do.  Avatar steps it up a notch or two in the digital age with this masterpiece.  I don't know they did it.  I'm guessing they probably came up with some software to separate it into 3-D afterwards even though supposedly it isn't that hard to make something 3-D.  From what I remember all you have to do is separate the red, green and blue in the picture just a little bit.  Whatever technique they used they did it right.  The tools and the technology are out there to make just about every movie that comes out in the near future to be made in 3-D and we might find ourselves in a futuristic looking society sooner than most people would think.  You know you'd love to have a 3-D HDTV in your living room.  Or even on your phone.  They'll be putting 3-D projectors on those soon enough.   Avatar accomplishes the feat of being the first major block buster to use the latest advances in 3-D cinematography to their fullest effect while still offering the viewer what they've come to expect from a movie when it comes to special effects, acting, story telling, action.  It was just a good movie.  Simple as that.  James Cameron is well known, we expect him to hand us greatness and I'll give him credit on this one.  When it comes to grading this movie I'd have to call it epic.  No other movie has made me feel like I was really on another planet like this one did.
